Change can be a good thing. From a new coffee table, to throwing everything away and getting all new furniture, it’s important to think like a designer. Thinking critically will save you time and money. Here are some tips to help you spruce up your St Louis interior design.
1. Create a mood
It’s not all about look, you need to think about what vibe you want to create. A welcoming, comfortable environment will be vastly different from a sleek, modern one.
Start putting ideas together that, when combined, emanate that feel you want.
2. Draw your dream room
Let your imagination run wild and see what you can come up with. If you can’t draw, put a bunch of pictures together. Throw thoughts on budget out the window. Just get everything you want onto paper.
Once you do that, you can start whittling down and seeing what pieces you really need.
3. Do the time-consuming tasks first
It’s easy to buy throw pillows. It takes time to paint walls. Do the mundane tasks first and get them out of the way. If you find you’re losing motivation, take a break and sprinkle in some of the more fun aspects.
But don’t leave all the hard work to the end. You’ll burn out and it won’t be fun anymore.
4. Walk on the wild side
Step out of your comfort zone and buy something totally out of character. Take a risk. If you don’t know what that entails for you, ask a family member to make a decision for you.
Who knows, you might find something new that you love.
5. Mix styles
Don’t paint yourself into a constrictive box. It’s okay to mix Moroccan with rustic. As long as it makes you happy to look at it, the sky is the limit.
